who this is for

If you're a brand strategist looking to bridge the gap between facilitation and delivering design, then this is the workshop for you.

If you’re new to brand strategy or have been running strategy sessions for clients or other stakeholders, this workshop is for you. You'll get the opportunity to see how the team at Blind presented our findings... and perhaps learn how to break some bad habits.

Here’s what you need to attend this workshop:

  • It's highly recommended (on the verge of required) that you go through either CORE Discovery or Brand Strategy Fundamentals first, since this workshop will build upon a facilitation framework. We'll use our adapted version of CORE as an example, but we're not going to teach you how to facilitate that in this workshop.
  • Access to Keynote, or a similar presentation tool
  • Notes from an actual strategy session (not required, but highly recommended)

Ben Burns is a designer, entrepreneur, and strategist who helps growing businesses increase revenue, expand brand awareness, and earn happier customers. He's worked with organizations of all shapes and sizes get clarity, realize their potential, and grow. Ben has been facilitating discovery and strategy workshops for over six years, with budgets as high as $100k for a single session.

Currently, he serves in a dual role as both the Chief Operating Officer of The Futur and as Digital Creative Director at Blind.

The Futur helps creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs develop personally and professionally by providing premier digital educational content. Ben leads the talented marketing and operations teams, who have succeeded in increasing revenue 300% year over year for the past three years.

Blind is a brand strategy consultancy specializing in technology, real estate, and entertainment. Ben leads a team of designers, writers, and technologists and participates in select client projects.

Length & Format:

Approximately 3 hours. Digital conference, online only.

Live Attendance:

We recommend attending the workshop live, but you are not required to do so. You will have access to a video recording of the workshop for 14 days.

How To Prepare:

  • Ben will be using the strategic facilitation framework he used at Blind as an example, but you should have a fundamental understanding of how to facilitate insights from your clients. If you don't, we recommend starting with Anneli Hansson's Brand Strategy Fundamentals or Jose Cabeller's CORE Discovery. This session will build on frameworks like these and explain how we deliver the results to our clients.
  • Bring data and insights that you've collected from a strategy facilitation (optional). If you haven't done a session yet, we will have an example for you to use.
  • We will be working in Apple Keynote, but you will be able to follow along using any other presentation software.
  • Have water on hand: it's important to stay hydrated!
  • If you'd like the instructor to be able to see you, make sure your webcam and microphone are in good working order.
