on, you're like, man,I have to be all over that.As far as, like recurringrevenue opportunities.What would that be froma standpoint of crystal?Current revenue,recurring revenue.Yeah oh, sorry.What do I need to do rightnow to get more money?No, no, no.OK, so you're doing the future?Yes all right.So if you weren'tdoing the future,if you saw some opportunitynow that you could recommendto someone or you saw somethingthat you felt like was alsosomething great to just hop onright now, what would that be?You know, fromyour point of view,is there anythingelse that you wouldsee right now thatyou think wouldbe a great opportunityfor recurring revenueor that designers should do?Ok?you know, there'sa lot of thingsthat you guys take for grantedthat everybody must know,must use, must already do.And the truth is,it's not the case,and the best way to find outis to go and teach a classand you'll findout, wow, I didn'trealize people didn'tknow this, this and that.Peter McKinnon.He's a photographer and he'sa pretty good photographer,but in the world ofphotographers, he's all right.So he has a YouTube channel.It's one of the fastest onesto hit a million subscribers,and he's up to $2million subscribersnow, so he releaseslooks color correctionpresets in lightroom,and every time hereleases one of these sets,he makes a bunch of moneyand people told me it'slike printing money for him,and that's worked outreally well for him.Cleon Peterson, aformer graphic designer,graduated from art center,worked with Shepard Faireyat Black market studios.He's now a bonafide artist himself.I went out to thestudio recentlyto buy some paintings fromhim, some paintings, whichare silkscreen prints.And we were just Iwas like marvelingat his house and his studio andhow his whole life has changed.And I told himkind of just happyfor him because I methim a long time ago isman, it's kind of like youprinting money now, isn't it?So if you want to buya new car or a new TVor go on vacation to Tahiti,you just got to get on the boxand make some stuff and.Voila!you can manifest yourown future happening,and it's built around avery simple design stylethat he's been able to masterand to capitalize and converton.So Chris, this isa very long wayof me answering your question,which is, look at what you do.That's very natural toyou and look at somethingthat you can put togetherfor very little moneyand see if somebody will buy it.That's awesome, man.And you know something.Thank you for that.I was watching a videoyou did with Melinda.I was watching it last night.Yeah and I was talkingto my wife about this.I actually quoted you.I wrote this down.All right.My whole mentality hasbeen I come from nothing.I will go back to nothing, andI'm comfortable in nothingnessthat the power thatmoney has over meis whatever it isthat I give it.And I told my wife, I'mlike, that's the denominatorright there.That's that's what separatesthe boys from the men,so to speak, right?I've got two kids.I've got her and I'm like, youknow, before I had the family,I took more risks.I was, I was out there.I was doing stuff,you know, and nowI, I find myself hesitantto put myself out therein certain ways.So yeah, yeah, that's profound.It's that's what I have to do.I've got to put it out there.Yeah, OK.Couple of things on that.First of all, I want tolet you are not alone.There's 200entrepreneurs in here,and I'm pretty sure over half ofthem feel the same way that youdo and that theirjob, their creativityis tied to their ownlivelihoods and there'sa lot riding on the line.So for whatever reason,without any kind of judgment,we're in the situationthat we're in,in which the runwaysand as healthy as we'dlike it to be making usa lot more risk averse.It's also making us alot hungrier and needierthan we need to be whenwe're encountering a clientsituation.You have tremendouspower, tremendous powerwhen you don't need anything,whether it's money or anythingelse, because then you cansee things very clearly.You know that when you'vehad that hot, passionaterelationship before with thatwoman or that man who's justknew was no good foryou because you're in itand your girlfriendsor your dude friendstell you, man, you'rewhipped or that'sa bad boy that's going towreck you and you're like,no, no, no, it's fine.Don't worry about it becauseyou can't see it objectively.We know that to betrue in real life.And so I'm a bigbeliever in that.What works in one areaor true to your lifemight actually be true to manyother facets of your life.It's not like you can justturn off one way of behaviorand be a completelydifferent personin a different situation.You're going to actand think the same.So if you know thatto be true, don'tbe that desperate guyholding on to the girlor the desperate girl hangingon to that abusive boyfriend,you've got to justlearn to let go.Now I will saysomething because.I shared this story last weekabout Mr. drapkin calling me upand asked me for help.And how do you want it to?I would have gottenon the call for himand done the entirenegotiation on his behalf.I wanted to empowerhim with informationso he could do it for himself.What I could do itfor him, because,you know why it's no differentto me if he gets it or not.I just want to actin his best interest.This is why people have agentsand managers to negotiatefor them.Why am I telling you this?Because you're in a situationwhere money is really tight,right?Well, you have this thing calledthe peak performance partner.Have you ever thought aboutgetting on each other's callsand helping each other out?So Chris had Bobby orMary or Jen or whoever,and you guys got ineach other's callsfirst just to listen and observeand coach each other like,oh, you know, when theysaid this and you said this,you might want to rethink that.And if you guys get comfortableenough with each other,I wouldn't say do itat the very beginning,but if you trusteach other enough,I would suggest you takethe peak partner programto the next level to actuallynegotiate for the personon the call to be theirmanager sales rep.And you alternate becauseChris didn't think reallyclearly for hisfriend partner, who'she's got nothing on the line.He was going to want toact in their best interest.So when the clientsay something funny,he's going to say, well,hold on a second here.That doesn't seem toconnect for me, let's talkabout this a little bit more.And you guys can dothat for each otherand depending on howstrong your relationshipand how strong the bonds are.I might even suggestdoing disciplinary callswith your staff.Even potentially firing people.It's much easierwhen it's objective,when you don't have an emotionalattachment to the outcome.And not to get too philosophicalon you guys, but a lot of gurustalk about the root of sadness.Is your expectations?Like, when you expect somethingto happen a certain way,it can just leadto disappointment.So the goal in life is to purgeyourself of those expectations.So that you can seethings for what they are.When you go to watch a movie,when you order some food,it just is what it is.We expect it to be great to bethe most delicious meal you'veever eaten.You are bound tobe disappointed.So we expect theclient to value you.And to pay you a lot of money.You're going to be disappointed.You expect yourself to bea great presenter in frontof an audience and to becharming and witty and allthose kinds of things.You're going to be disappointed,and you can add a lot of stressto yourself.So before you canmaster this art of justbeing present and purgingthose thoughts and anticipationand expectation to purgethose work with a partner,they can be a goodtraining will for youto move into that space.
